Dee Thomas joins DSFS as Managing Director

Derbyshire Support and Facilities Services (DSFS) is delighted to welcome Dee Thomas as its new Managing Director.

Dee joins DSFS with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning aviation, infrastructure and the public sector, both in the UK and internationally. Throughout her career, Dee has held senior executive positions leading complex, multi-service operations, including working at divisional Managing Director level for a £60m organisation employing more than 2,000 people.

Reflecting on her first week in the role, Dee said: “Everyone I’ve met has been incredibly welcoming. The warmth and friendliness I’ve experienced already have made a fantastic first impression.

“I wanted to bring my experience to an organisation with a strong sense of purpose and a meaningful connection to the community I live in. The opportunity to lead DSFS brings those ambitions together, contributing to an organisation that plays a vital role locally while working with colleagues to build on its strengths and shape an ambitious future. It is a role I am immensely proud to take on, and I genuinely feel it is the best job in town.”

Over the coming months, Dee’s focus will be on meeting colleagues, listening to their experiences and building a clear understanding of the organisation’s strengths and future opportunities.

“My immediate priority is to meet our people, listen carefully and build a deep understanding of DSFS. From that foundation, we can set a clear strategic direction and build a strong, unified culture focused on delivering consistently excellent services. Central to this is our partnership with the Trust and the vital role we play in supporting its ambitions, enabling the best possible care and outcomes for patients, while continuing to deliver high-quality services for all our customers.”

Dee also paid tribute to Steve Hustler, thanking him for his leadership during the transition period and for the warm welcome she has received from colleagues across the organisation.

Dr Hal Spencer, Chief Executive of Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I am delighted to welcome Dee to DSFS and the wider Chesterfield Royal Hospital family. Dee brings with her a wealth of leadership experience, a strong commitment to people and culture, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality services.

“DSFS plays a vital role in supporting the care we provide across the Trust, and I know Dee is looking forward to working closely with colleagues to build on the organisation’s many strengths and help shape its future. I would also like to echo Dee’s thanks to Steve Hustler for his leadership, dedication and support during the transition period.

“Please join us in welcoming Dee to the Trust and wishing her every success in her new role.”
