EMAP DDC

East Midlands Acute Providers Digital Design Collaborative

The DDC member organisations are:

  • Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust
  • Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
  • University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust
  • University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

These organisations are working together to:

  • Create a digital culture, enabled by innovative shared mobile device management, which enables all clinicians to seamlessly work across the DDC membership.
  • Improve clinical safety and the delivery of EPR enabled benefits through their shared experiences.
  • Seek out efficiencies in how resources are utilised and shared.
  • Drive economies and efficiencies of scale, by making procurement decisions together.
  • Simplify and harmonise approaches to training -with a vision to create an EPR Training Academy.

The DDC vision is “We will have the best EPR in the NHS for the benefit of our patients, staff and population.”  This will be achieved by:

  • Prioritising safety in our journey to improving patient care ensuring highest standards of safety and wellbeing
  • Adding value to the working lives of our staff and empowering them to deliver exceptional patient outcomes with ease and confidence
  • Contribute to the creation of a healthcare landscape where excellence is the norm, innovation is embraced, and the benefits of the collaboration are fully realised

The DDC member organisations have embarked on a digital excellence journey to implement a nationally leading Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system that will transform the quality of care for their patients and staff by having instantly accessible information using the latest mobile technology, reducing paper usage and utilising clinical decision support tools.

Traditionally, each organisation in this collaborative would recruit their own staff and then we’d take steps to agree how to work together. As a DDC, we are taking a fresh approach. To deliver this vision, we, as a DDC believe that some roles make more sense to be recruited for the whole region, meaning we can take a more strategic view on where the effort and energy needs to be at a given time; this could be about designing an approach that works across EMAP, or being deployed at a particular Trust for a given period. It is worth noting that whilst deployment will be across the East Midlands and travel will be required at times across the whole of the region, many of our roles will be hybrid. Details will be provided in each individual job description.

The DDC Team is being recruited through Derbyshire Support & Facilities Services Limited to help drive these ambitions and deliver the expertise necessary.
